History of
POSA
The Plashet Old Students
Association (POSA) was formed several
years ago after some extremely
successful ‘get-togethers’ of former
students. Ex-students/staff from all of the
following schools are now included:
East
Ham Secondary School Monega
Modern School
1905 to 1932 (for
girls) 1945 to 1954 (for girls)
|
East
Ham Grammar School
for Girls 1932 to 1972
|
|
Plashet
County Secondary School
for Girls 1954 to 1972 |
|
The
two above schools amalgamated
to become the present day
Plashet School
(Comprehensive)
in
1972
Our
aim has been to provide ex-students and
staff from all of the above schools with
an agency for contacting old friends and
keeping in touch with them. Our ‘Current
Members’ database contains details of
POSA members who have paid the
membership of £5 for the current year
and this is updated regularly as
membership fees are received. We also
retain an ‘Archival’ database containing
details of all contacts which have been
made since POSA was formed.
Each
year we produce a POSA Newsletter and a
copy is sent to all of our ‘paid-up’ members.
Thanks
to the ongoing support of the present
HeadTeacher and Senior Staff of Plashet
School, we are also able to use the
Plashet School buildings to run a bi-annual Reunion Day. This is
traditionally held on the last Saturday
in June either in the South Hall
(Grammar School building) or the North
Hall (Plashet County building) on
alternate years. Tours of both buildings
are offered.
The next POSA Reunion will be held in
the
South Hall
of Plashet Comprehensive School
(EHGS Building)
on:
Saturday 30th June 2012
from
12.30pm
until 4.30pm
